Which way do you read this?

We got one of these in some random publication - like you do.

After drinking some beer, we were unsure of which way the title should read - what do you think?

Don't win today! Win another day.
The game card is © Techtron Games 2001

I guess I'm somekind of Top Prize winner of this Bingo Jackpot and this Dazzling Dartboard game. I got it through Q magazine. What the hell do I do to cliam this? And what is "Techtron" anyway?

Posted by: eric on July 10, 2003 09:59 PM

I guess nearly everyone will be a winner on it. I'm nothing to do with Techtron - I just acknowleged that it was there game card!

If you want to claim, I suggest you call the number on the game card you have received.

Posted by: Ed on July 10, 2003 10:38 PM

any of you guys know a thing or two about techtron games or who's behind it all (concept, production, distribution...) 'cause I've been looking my a$$ off to find out who they are...any info at all is welcome...thx

Posted by: brammert on July 30, 2003 08:35 AM

No idea I'm afraid, sorry.

Posted by: Ed on July 31, 2003 01:01 AM

Is this for real, or is it like one of those time share deals?

Posted by: Catforddan on August 12, 2003 11:42 AM

i won five star prizes.when i called the number to claimed, nobody answer. is that some kind of joke or what?

Posted by: jenni on August 14, 2003 04:34 AM

I live in Mexico and I want to know how can I reach Techtron Games from my country by phone. I have this friend who won the Bingo Jackpot and Dazzling Dartboard and he wants to get in touch with the company. We will aprecciate any information. Thanks.

Posted by: cecilia on September 19, 2003 08:03 PM

Their cards have an option to request the claim number by sending a SAE and keycode. So you do not have to call the rip off number. I suspect that some of the prizes may be not worth the paper the card is printed on - ABTA travel agents vouchers were unheard of by ABTA staff, for instance, they also suggested that I may have problem redeeming vouchers against bookings with the tour operators as not all of them may be willing to accept them.

Posted by: natalie on October 20, 2003 12:00 PM

Also, Techtron Games 2001 is not a UK company name - I have been to the Companies House to check, search of trademarks at UK or US patent offices also did not come up with an exact match. There is only a 'Techtron' name registered at the UK patent office in 2001 by a Dutch company called DMS NV.

Posted by: natalie on October 20, 2003 12:13 PM

I to apparently won a prize, like everyone else. From the sound of it someone could carry a good lawsuit against this crap "company" for false advertisment or something.

Posted by: Emerson on November 12, 2003 12:04 AM

What is this!!! This is really mean! Who is behind this scam!!! It really is a bull right!! Is this some kind of English past time that everyone know about? I am in Japan and I got one of these in a MOJO English music mag. !!!!!!!!!!

I done some major research on the net and found nothing but this thread and a couple otheres that has anything to do with Techtron games...

I feel so cheated.... these people should be found and punished!

Posted by: GRRRR on November 27, 2003 12:40 PM

hey, i'm from Australia and i got a Techtron game card in MOJO and apparently i have won loads of money. this seems really dodgy considering, it seems that everyone is winning heaps of money too! hahaha. personally i'm not going to bother as i think it is a scam.

Posted by: xBridgetx on December 17, 2003 10:26 AM

yeah i app. won both a 10,000$ poker scratchie and a 25,000$ scratchie. It's bullshit.

Posted by: Damien on January 3, 2004 11:57 PM

Has anyone "won" a techtron prize who actually lives in the UK and would therefore be eligible to claim it?

Posted by: Oi Oi Oi on January 23, 2004 10:19 AM

I'm in the UK and I've got one of those "winning" cards sent to me by a friend in New Zealand. Even though I don't wanna waste my money by calling the number I think I'll give em a call.

Posted by: Russ on April 1, 2004 10:11 PM

Being totally supicious, also being a 5-star winner (!!!)and wanting to research the company before I waste my money calling them, I found this site top of the search engine list - interesting if they were for real! Everyone's comments confirm what I feel, that this is a way to get people to spend a load on the phone call and that's it - bye bye dosh! Unless anyone has news to the contrary?

Posted by: Juliet on July 11, 2004 12:59 PM

Techtron Games its a con dont ring the number

Posted by: jim thomson on August 13, 2004 05:17 PM

I also won tryed twice to get the claim number without success please let me know iif anybody can find out how to get a claim number

Posted by: ernie Rackham on October 18, 2004 04:33 PM

I got a game card with award number 5595 where I could win a Range Rover for this lot through Britannia Music, asks me to call a number where you listen to some bloke for almost 7 minutes which is when you obtain a prize claim number. If i'd read these other comments first of all i wouldn't have bothered calling. Anyway, done now so I'll send my card back to them at PO Box 76, Flintshire, CH7 5YT along with a SAE and see what happens. Will be back to advise whether I've actually won my holiday to the Bahamas or as you all think, a con!!!

Posted by: davyb1978 on November 17, 2004 07:30 PM

I recieved a game card from Techtron Games today (1st March 2005) through my local paper with a code of CA4525 which is listed in a column of prize codes against prizes on the other column. Just happens to be £25,000 against the code in my card though I think the prize codes are in randon order in the columns i.e. if I have won something it is probably a lesser prize. Reading these postings above can anyone else shed any light. Not daft enough to phone their number or post as feel it is a con too.

Posted by: HAPPYHARRY on March 1, 2005 05:05 PM

Just received a card in a magazine stated I too have code CA4525 and have won £25,000. Interested to read someone else has also won the same prize - on the card there is only one £25k prize up for grabs.
Don't phone, it is a con.

Posted by: claire on March 14, 2005 08:03 PM

I too have recieved a card with code CA4525 and have won £25,000 on March 14th in The BHS Horse Magazine as there is only one prize for this amount of money I feel sure its a con dont waste your money I know I will not be.

Posted by: Dawn on March 15, 2005 05:46 PM

i too got claim number ca4525 from the card that came with the BHS...guess its a con then...there goes my horse flying out the window :(

Posted by: loulou on March 17, 2005 08:55 PM

Me too - code no. CA4525.....£25,000 would be very useful, but this aint the way to get it, of that I am sure. Thanks everyone for the comments that confirmed my doubts!

Posted by: Sue on March 19, 2005 12:56 PM

Guess what? I too got claim number CA4525 - out of Horse & Hound. No I didn't ring the number, but as everyone else says, how can the same prize be awarded to so many people when there is only meant to be one award of £25,000? Guess I'll just have to live with my leaky roof and try not to think how easily I could have spent the money !

Posted by: Potsy on March 20, 2005 02:13 PM

Well, I've got CA4525 as the winning (£25k) prize number in something I got with the Readers Digest.

Posted by: Andy Kennaugh on March 21, 2005 10:59 AM

Just got my copy of BHS magazine. I have also just opened up an envelope revealing code CA4525 which means i have won 25k! I would actually like to have this 25k. Perhaps i should go to trading standards or something and demand the cash?????

Posted by: Gemma Hill on March 22, 2005 09:59 PM

I've emailed Flint trading standards, but I'm awaiting a response at the moment.

They are clever...slippy and slimey. Happy Harry got it right..the CA4524 is definitely your prize code (and my prize code). But the list of winning prize codes is random and the card does not indicate which prizes match which prize codes. So we all ring up, go though seven minutes of premium call time, and just over £10, and then get told that CA4525 wins the caribean cruise. The cruise will be in the form of vouchers with stringent dates, no travel to and from destination and various other restrictions.

They only need 10,000 of us to ring, they walk away with £200k less expenses.

DON'T DO IT.

Posted by: TOP PRIZE on March 23, 2005 09:19 PM

I'm so glad I thought to type "Techtron Games" into Google, which brought be straight to this site. Guess what? I got code CA4525 too. I think the magazine publishers deserve to be pulled just for being party to such a blatant con. The worst of it is, it's probably 100% legal.
DONT PHONE, PEOPLE

Posted by: Dan on March 23, 2005 11:04 PM

On the subject of scams, some of you may be getting, or have had, a letter from a company called Value Group where you phone at £1.50/min for 7 minutes to claim up to 4 cheques to the value of £75k (each).

They have a website www.value-group.co.uk that basically says nothing.

The Guardian looked into this earlier this month.

CA4525 - Another one here from Readers Digest as well. I am going to complain to Readers digest and make them relise that it puts thier name in with a bunch of SCAM merchants and does their reputation (what they have) no good whatsoever. Only by stopping publications lending their credability (Oh, its in H&H , RD... whatever so it must be genuine!!) to these scams can we stop them. - I have just looked at the leaflet again and the way it is written DOES not mean the codes match the prizes, so ALL of them will be the Cruises, which they cover the cost of with the admin fee, the telephone call and the almost certain timeshare presentations for those who take the cruise (who are BTW more susceptable to actally then buying a timeshare or holiday promotion) - All very clever and a total scam. - AVOID AVOID AVOID - AND DON'T MAKE THAT CALL - IF IT SEEMS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE....THEN IT MOST OFTEN IS.

Posted by: Phil Barnett on March 28, 2005 09:25 AM

I too have the card CA4525,this is highway robbery-let's get the scumbags, seriously!,And what the hell is such a premium mag like MOJO putting shit like that out,i'd love to know???,the card is unambiguous,I've won £25,000,where's my dosh!,someone sue the fockers,in AMERIKA this shit would not be tolerated, why are we putting up with it?I can just see the bastards laughing from the beach of some resort somewhere-would to heaven that some budding young journo would get onto this trail and expose these fraudsters,in sincerity, NO JUNK MALE.P.S thank you for everyone's comments.

Posted by: Ross kinney on March 30, 2005 04:24 PM

Me too!! Another 25k lucky winner! As for all the people wanting to take legal action, forget it! This bunch of wan**rs will know the law down to a "T" It says in their terms and conditions that they are not responsible for "printing errors" Guess what, we all have printing errors! I work for a legit timeshare company....stop laughing, there are a few about......well maybe one or two!!
and this kind of thing is common in the industry. They feed on peoples greed, pure and simple. As people have already commented, if it looks to good to be true..it is! The only thing you could do is deluge their address with all your junk mail!! Send it in a big brown envelope with no stamp!

Posted by: Paul on March 30, 2005 11:25 PM

all these sort of things are a con,my girlfriend wanted me to phone,NO CHANCE TOTAL RIP OFF.

Posted by: LEE on April 1, 2005 11:05 PM

Guess what, I am another guranteed lucky winner of 25000 pounds, there is just one prize for it, but already so many contenders. i received this card with readers digest.

Doesn't seems anything but just fraud, but honestly why law agencies not interested in stopping these thugs !!!!

Another Winner £25,000.
Itoo was going to call to make a claim
Glad that I tried the web first

Posted by: tony on April 11, 2005 11:29 AM

Yet another £25,000 winner with the exact same code,
I remember a few years ago I rang one of these and got a small wooden picture frame although the listed prize wasn't as big as these ones.
Just wish there was something we could do against this.

Posted by: Paul on April 19, 2005 12:53 PM

My wife got the 25,000 prize from one in simply be mag, it may also be a con but read the small print there are so many get out clauses that even if it was cosha you probably would not be entittled to win anyway. for example "Employees and their relaltives are excluded from this competition", it does not state which employees as is the "normal" practice, so the terminology means anyone who works or has a relative who works cannot legitimatly clim the prize. how many people do you knw in the UK who do not or have never worked and are not related even to a most distant cousin who has ever worked. just in case such a peson does exist, there are so many other clauses that it ould be impossible to prove the letter did not got lost in the post.

Posted by: Bruce on April 21, 2005 11:50 AM

Hi, Guess what?? I found a CA4525! I WON £25,000!! ***NOT!!*** We need to teach these guys a lesson. Gather all your junk mail and send it to the address on the card. PLEASE SEND IT WITHOUT A STAMP!!! Let them pay for our junk mail!

Posted by: Rynardt Spies on April 24, 2005 09:43 PM

YES! we have another winner for the £25K price . . .You guessed it code CA4525. I want to thank the originator of this website and everyone else for thier comments (phew)! that was a close one it seems that 25K is just too tempting . . .
I find it hard to believe Techtron Games have been doing this for over two years now.

Posted by: zoe on April 25, 2005 09:46 PM

i too got a winning ticket for 25000
with the readers digest, i was going to
post an envelope in to see what happens.
what i do now with all competitions
and seemingly good bargains,is that
i type in the info into webferret
this searches the search engines on the net
and gets me all the info available on the net

Posted by: Henry on April 28, 2005 02:13 PM

i got one tooCA4525 typed in techtron got this site , yeeha , this site will save people a lot of money well done.

Posted by: bigalblue on May 3, 2005 03:45 PM

you know if 100,000 people rang the number
at 1.50 a minute then that would be 150,000
in total.
now put all the names into a hat and draw out
one name, then you are 125,000 pounds ahead
not a bad way to make money.
but its not right
maybe that is how it works

Well I have just opened my motability magazine and you guessed it I am the lucky winner of the £25,000 first prize. I agree that what we should do is keep all our junk mail and keep sending it to Techtronic Games P.O. Box 7, Deesside, Flintshire,CH5 2WJ They send us s**t lets send it back to them see how they feel.

Posted by: John on May 9, 2005 01:19 PM

We too got the CA4525 number awarding us £25k in Cheshire. Ours came out of the Countryside magazine which is the National Farmers Union (NFU)mag.Clearly, they are relying on the perceived respectability of the mags to further their scam.

Posted by: Jerome on May 10, 2005 08:41 AM

Yep you guessed it!!!!! I've just opened my Motability Magazine I too have code CA4525. Even though I'm broke I thought this is too good to be true and there was no way I was going to call the number so I checked google. Whoever, thought of this big thanks. 2 finga to the scheming gits!

Posted by: Sista Act on May 10, 2005 09:46 AM

Code CA4525 - yep, 25K - yep, in my Motability Mag - yep,

It's disgusting that they would target the disabled as well.

Posted by: julie on May 10, 2005 06:07 PM

Another Motability reader who's "won £25,000" - clearly "1 winner" doesn't mean the same on Deeside that it does elsewhere. Still three cheers for Google who found this thread and saved me speculating with the price of a phone call. I'm guessing that most of us will have "won" a Caribbean cruise - one day cruise, no hotel, no airfare, all food, drinks, tips and taxes extra.

The thing is cleverly designed so that it looks as though the prize number number listed gives you the prize it's listed against - but it never says so! I think this particular version of this scam is, probably, just on the edge of legality. Still it would be interested to see it tested under European consumer law. (I'm betting these people have checked English and/or Scots law)

BTW there's a spendid bit of psychological manipulation as well - the "Your code" number is shown in a white box, but "just happens" to be on the same line as "£25,000" and "CA4525".

Posted by: Philippa Sutton on May 14, 2005 01:30 AM

I got the code ca4525 to win £25k from the Your Horse mag (British Horse Society) i didnt call the company but i did send an sae to get my claim number and along with it i got a whole host of other 'life changing' cards sent to me. I would like to say thanx to all the contributers to this site for saving me the time and effort of getting involved with this techtron rubbish!

Posted by: Loopy Lu on May 16, 2005 12:42 PM

I got the card in my dissabled magazine which is automaticly sent to me. And low and behold I got WINNING CODE CA4525 25K. Shame it's a con as I could really do with the money just like every one else. Oh well never mind thanks for the warning at least i feel happier about the phone bill!

i just got through the door via mail, readers digest finalist nomination to recieve £250,000 obviously hi think this is one big scam, but i cant find any info on it, and there isnt any nuber to call, and no personal banking details to hand over so im kind of puzzled on this one, went to their website where they have a list of "real" winners. anyone had this before ?

Posted by: Amin on June 16, 2005 12:32 PM

just got readers digest prize winner thing too. But it seems you are ordering the travel book too which costs at least £20. Not sure if there are any genuine winners out there?

Posted by: patricia Devereaux on June 17, 2005 01:11 PM

I just opened a 'winning' leaflet (for a £25,000 prize - now, wouldn't that be nice?), and then tried Google to find out who Techtron Games might be. This is the only link I found ... the one here that I'm writing to. No purchase is involved in this offer, by the way.

I read the info carefully, and then wrote off to ask for a Prize Claim Number. Their UK postal address is PO Box 7, Deeside, Flintshire CH5 2WJ -I tried a BT Directory Enquiries search but the response showed 'Sorry, the number you want cannot be found'.

I'll wait the statutory 28 days to see whether anything comes back from my request, and post here again at that time. I think that it's a scam - but all it'll cost me to find out is two 2nd Class stamps.

I've also contacted the company - Kaleidoscope - who sent me the leaflet with their latest catalogue; so I'll find out what they think in due course as well.

Posted by: Philip Andrews on June 17, 2005 06:31 PM

with regards to the "readers digest grand prize" it gives you the option though of not having to buy the book, so if the want to give me money wahey go ahead, but im not giving them a dime of my own :-/

Posted by: amin on June 17, 2005 07:06 PM

Thanks you all confirmed my fears of ca 4525, i was gonna send of a sae but think they have only put that on there to throw you off the scent of it being a scam ie"" if you dont ned to phone the number to get the prize it might be genuine"" I doubt it !!! Wankers!!!!!!Glad i checked web first i have debts and it would have cleared half, my boyfriend and i were gonna split it as he found the advert the light at the end of tunnel has now vanished!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: candi on June 25, 2005 11:23 AM

I have just checked with the Flintshire Trading Standards and although they told me that information about this "company" was restricted, action was being taken by the national trading standards office in London. It apparently works as Top Prize says above and the various restrictions can be removed with the application of more cash, hmmm, amounting to a standard holiday costing you in excess of 1000 pounds. I was advised to make a complaint to the office in London and recycle the card. Calls and postage are profits in these bastard's pockets. Hopefully, registered complaints will be compensated for phone costs if the company is found fraudulent but I'm not going to hold my breath. Sorry everyone.

Posted by: Todd on July 26, 2005 02:22 PM

I was curious enough to see what type
of prize was on offer,so i sent a first
class stamp to techtron, i got the claim
number which is TG2003.
So they want me to return the slip of
paper with the code on it, with an sae.
But to leave the claim card blank and they would
fill it in when my card would be verified for
the prize code CA4525.
I kept the the card and claim code slip
of paper.

Techtron games...DONT DO IT..it is a massive con.
if u look closely...the prize u win is opposite your number but it is in a separate boxed column.
